Hellequin??

Has anyone else come across this word in reference to the English soldiers whose duty it was to terrorise the French population and destroy the supply lines of the French?

From what I am reading, the character, Hellequin, appears to be an entirely fictitious modern creation of an animé avatar.  cheers
